OUR COACHES Tom Van Doren Tom has been coaching youth hockey for over 10 years, the last four at Devils Youth. Tom had a very successful season at Mite A last year, including a silver medal at the 2002-3 Silver stick Regional tournament. Prior to Devils Youth, Tom was varsity high school coach at Madison. Adam Diglio Adam has been coaching with Devils Youth since 1988. Prior to coaching Adam played D1 college hockey at Canisius College in Buffalo NY, First Division Pro in Italy and Minor Pro in Cincinnati for the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL. As a coach, Adam won a Bronze medal at the 1989 USA Hockey Bantam National Championships, a Silver medal at the 1999 USA Hockey Bantam National Championships and a Bronze Medal at the 2002 USA Hockey Midget Major National Championships. Adam is also the clubs defensive coordinator and a member of the Quebec team on ice staff. Dave Gritschkie Dave has been involved with Devils youth hockey on various different levels. Most recently Dave coached the peewee B team to the Atlantic District Bronze medal. Dave is also the head Varsity high school coach for Millburn. Shawn Burke Re-joining the Devils staff this year is Shawn Burke. As a player Shawn had much success with the Essex County Chief Hockey Club. As a coach, Shawn has coached various tier 1 teams from Mite to Midget levels, including the Devils Youth peewee AAA team to the District playoffs in 2000. Steve Riley Steve is entering his third year as a NJ Devils coach. In addition to being the Devils Goalie Coach, Steve coached the Midget AAA team to the Atlantic District playoffs the last two years. Steve also works with the USA Hockey Select Program and the Atlantic District Quebec Team staff. Victor Masanko Vic has been involved with Devils Youth for the past 10 years. Vic has coached at all levels within the club. Last year Vics team competed in the NJYHL playoffs. This year Vics Bantam AA team advanced to the Atlantic District Playoffs. John Dinorcia John Dinorcia is the Coaching and Program director for the NJ Devils Youth Hockey Club. John spends on-ice time with each team throughout the season in addition to performing game evaluations. John is a member of the Atlantic District Player Development Coaching Staff, where he has coached at several different levels. John was Director of the Garden State Games from 1998 to 2001. Johns teams have won gold, silver and bronze medals at the Junior Olympic Festivals. John was the Head Coach of the Atlantic District North New Jersey Devil team that won the 2002 International Peewee Quebec Tournament and the 2003 team which advanced to the Quarterfinals . He has also led our 1998 1999 Tier I Bantam Team to a Silver Medal at the USA Hockey National Championships, and our 2000 2001 Tier I Bantams to a Gold Medal and a National Championship. Johns current Bantam team just returned from the USA Hockey Nationals in Buffalo NY having accomplished: a third place finish and earning a Bronze medal. This team won Championships in: the 2002 Labor Day Face Off Classic in MA; the 2002 Bantam AAA Regional Silver Stick Tournament in Philadelphia; Atlantic League and District Playoffs. In addition, John is Regional Director of Huron Hockey Schools. Jim Elia Coaching the Bantam Major this year is Jim Elia. Jim is a Prep School Hockey product from Trinity-Pawling. Jim then attended and played Collegiate Hockey for Lake Forest University. Jim has had much success with the Devils having coached the Bantam team to the USA Hockey National Championships in 1993 and coaching the Peewee AAA team to a first place finish in the 2002 USA Hockey National Championship. In addition, Jims peewee major team won the 2002 Silver Stick Regional and International Championships, the Atlantic District and League Tournament Championships. Jim coached the Atlantic District North 2002 New Jersey Devil Quebec Team to a First Place finish in the Quebec International Peewee Championships and to a quarterfinal appearance in 2003. Chad Dlugolecki Chad is entering his sixth season at Devils Youth. This past season Chad coached the Midget Minor AAA team to a undefeated season in league play for the second year in a row. The Midget minor team also won the district title and won a Silver medal at the USA Hockey Nationals. This will be Chad's 4th year at the midget level. His midget teams over the past 3 years have all won the District regular season title and have been at USA Hockey Nationals the past 2 seasons. Chad has coached several teams for the Atlantic District Festival program from select 17 team to the select 13 team(Chad won gold with the 89 select 13 team in Ohio) Chad is a former player of the Devils Junior team under Jim Hunt who went on to become a player on the USA Hockey Player Development Program. A Program in which he is still a member of. Chad went on to attend and play for Avon Old Farms Prep School, the Boston Jr. Bruins and minor professionally with the Muskegon Fury of the UHL with much success. John Warchol John Warchol has well over 30 years of coaching experience, which has made him one of the most respected people in Hockey today. John is currently co-coach of the Seton Hall Prep Varsity Hockey team. John has won over 500 games at the High School level. John has coached at all levels of Hockey from Mite to semi pro. John is the NJ Devils Youth Hockey Clubs senior member of Coaching. Johns credits as a player include trying out for and being the last cut of the USA Hockey Olympic Team. This year John will be coaching the Girls with Steve Riley. |
